Witness Lobster Picking
Mie Prefecture has one of the largest catch volumes of Japanese Spiny Lobster. On this tour, a local guide will take you to the site where fishermen picking lobsters out of nets and then go to the fish market to see a fish auction. Finish it out by tasting 3 freshly grilled lobsters at the end!
Highlights

The Lobster Picking Process: Using a special tool, fishermen pick lobsters out of nets one by one by one very carefully not to damage them. Watch experienced fishermen work.

Auction: Lobsters are carried to the market one after another. See the buckets of healthy lobsters just caught from ocean.

Taste a lobster fresh from the sea!: Roast a whole lobster over fire. Enjoy tender and soft lobster.

In Mie prefecture, Spiny Lobsters cannot be caught from May to September to preserve the marine ecosystem.

A freshly hatched lobster like the above photo turns to be a glossy lobster which has the same appearance as an adult like the one in the above left photo.

Fishermen release small sized lobsters to ensure a stable volume of the lobsters for future catches over the years,

(In 2018, available dates were Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday except New Year Holidays and a week around full-moon. However, Lobster fishing is weather dependent and may be subject to cancellations. ) |
